About
Why this site exists
Opening a 3D or CAD file should not require installing heavy software, creating an account or uploading confidential parts to an unknown server. This site offers simple tools that do one job well, right in your browser.
How it works
The tools use modern web technologies (WebGL, Web Workers and WebAssembly) to read and display files on your own device. That is why they are fast and private: there is nothing to upload and nothing to wait for.
Who it is for
Engineers who need to check a part sent by a supplier, makers preparing a 3D print, and workshops that receive files in many formats.
What’s next
The STL, STEP, GLB and DXF viewers and the STEP to STL and SVG to STL converters are already available. More tools and formats are on the way.
Open source software
This site is built with open source software. 3D rendering uses three.js (MIT license). STEP files are read with OpenCascade through occt-import-js, both under the LGPL-2.1 license; their source code is available at those links. DXF drawings are rendered with dxf-viewer (MPL-2.0 license, with its source code at that link), and their text uses the Noto Sans fonts (SIL Open Font License). Text to STL and the keychain generator read fonts with opentype.js (MIT license) and includes Montserrat, Roboto, Bebas Neue, Playfair Display, Pacifico and Lobster from Google Fonts, distributed through Fontsource under the SIL Open Font License. The keychain generator builds the base and the ring with Clipper2 through clipper2-ts (Boost Software License 1.0). The Gridfinity generator follows the open dimensions of Gridfinity, the storage system by Zack Freedman shared under the MIT license; it is an independent tool, not an official Gridfinity product.
